Karisa received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as her Masters of Counseling from Arizona State University. She started her career working at a non-profit in Mesa, Arizona with the Seriously Mentally Ill (SMI) population where she quickly discovered her passion for working with individuals in crisis, as well as in a traditional therapy setting. She worked as a crisis counselor in emergency departments, hospitals, and communities providing support and liaison services to those in immediate danger or need. While working in many different aspects of the mental health field, she realized she wanted to focus her continued education on trauma and its effects on the brain, body and spirit. She has worked with some of the nation’s top addiction and recovery experts at The Meadows, a renowned inpatient treatment center in Wickenburg, Arizona. Karisa has also provided clinical direction and consulting for residential programs in Arizona. She enjoys a full-time private practice and considers herself a forever student. She continues to look for new ways to expand her knowledge.
Karisa is currently in the process of obtaining her license in California to expand her practice and services.
